Getting To Know Chuck Parker

chuck_parker_2016Chuck was born and raised, along with one sister, in Mechanicsville, Virginia which is just outside of Richmond. He attended Lee Davis High School, where he was extremely active in extracurricular activities. Some of those activities include participating in the cross-country track program, serving as the President of the Science Club, and being a member of both the Beta Club and the National Honor Society. Not only is Chuck smart, but he also possesses an entrepreneurial spirit. One summer during high school he had his own small business doing driveway sealing. During the winters and on holiday breaks he would also plow snowy driveways.

Upon graduating high school, Chuck went to Virginia Tech, where he was also involved in extramural activities and is a member of the fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. He graduated with an Information Technology (IT) degree and it was an excellent time to be an IT graduate. However, all Chuck knew while he was growing up was construction and he is not the type of person to sit in front of a computer all day long. Chuck used to help his dad build commercial projects, as he did everything from being a laborer to running heavy equipment. He knew he wanted to be in the construction industry, and thanks to a subcontractor of Venture, he was introduced to Jim Downing who hired him as a superintendent. I remember thanking this subcontractor for recommending such a great person to join our team. A year or so after his hire date, I asked him if he wanted to be a project manager and he accepted my offer. Chuck is now Richmond’s Senior Project Manager.

In Chuck’s spare time he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and working in the yard. He not only works in the construction industry, he also likes to handle his own personal construction projects, such as building his own houses. He is now living in the second, and maybe the last, house that he built. He is very hands on with his projects, as he physically installed all the stone on his fireplace, ran the trim, installed the doors/hardware and installed the central vacuum system, among countless other things. Even though his house is complete with all the modern conveniences, you will always find Chuck working on new projects. His current project is finishing the basement so it can serve as his family’s entertainment area.

Chuck is also a very dedicated family man. He and his bride, Jenny, have three children; Greyson, who is ten, Madison Brooke, who is six, and Briggs, who is five. Chuck is very proud of his family, as well he should be.

Thank you, Chuck, for your hard work and continued loyalty. We are extremely proud to have you as part of the Venture team!
